AN R&D SUMMARY

At Tektrend, we maintain an active R&D program and are consequently investing considerable resources in this area. While we have personnel solely dedicated to research, R&D is really integrated into all our activities and is intrinsic to Tektrend

Our R&D effort is divided into three sectors:

Ultrasonics

Smart Structures

Condition Monitoring

We are actively pursuing development using ultrasonic guided waves and other specialized waves such as shear horizontal and Rayleigh waves. Our development programs have led to commercial systems using Lamb, Rayleigh and SH waves.

Our second research sector is in Smart Sensory Systems. This work includes continuous monitoring of structures with miniaturized and inexpensive equipment. This development is based on the PC104 technology and includes signal digitization and strain gaging correlation.

Our third sector includes one activity sector meant to simplify and facilitate the interpretation of the condition of fine filtration machinery. Traditionally, techniques such as spectroscopy and ferrography have been used to monitor the condition of machinery. Nowadays, in many industries, fine filtration systems are used because of the unquestionable benefits of running equipment clean. As a result, the conventional techniques which rely on the monitoring of the oil are no longer effective. In our program we use the debris trapped in the filter to assess the condition of the equipment. The imaging platform uses a metallurgical microscope, camera and mathematical algorithms to automate the assessment process. For more information on any of these programs, please contact us
